Perle Fine

(1905-1988)

In 1943, she received a scholarship from the Guggenheim Foundation and began exhibiting in the second half of the 1940s as one of the few female painters. Her first works found their way into the collections of Frank Lloyd Wright, Frank Crowninshield, Emily Tremane and Alfred Barr, the director of the MoMa, among others.
In the fifties it was presented in important exhibitions, in which artist colleagues such as Willem de Kooning, Jackson Pollock, Lee Krasner and Conrad Marca-Relli also took part.
Works by her can be found in “The National Museum of American Art”, in the “Smithsonian Institute” or in the “Whitney Museum of American Art”.
